Michael Schumacher admits Mercedes W02 was very slow in Sepang – Formula 1 news
Formula 1 Mercedes GP driver Michael Schumacher has admitted that his MGP-W02 car was lacking in pace, at the Sepang circuit and that was disappointing for the team.
He also mentioned that, the team drivers put their all efforts for their car pace, but the machine did not help them in a complete way, moreover it was not as reliable as expected before the race.
The seven-time world champion had an interesting Malaysian Grand Prix, where he competed for his victory among the strong rivals of Formula 1. He ended his race with 2 supportive points for his team and came on ninth place in the end.
He said, “I had a straightforward race today which was even a bit exciting towards the end but really full of ups and downs before. The start was quite good and then it was mainly about managing the tyres.”
He added that before the start of Sepang race he expects more points for his team, so only two points are not enough for his 2011 season’s achievement. He further added, his car was quite slow over the race, that’s why his team could not make their best
run in Malaysia. Making things good in future, Mercedes have to do more work on their upgraded machine.
The German admitted that his team is ready for working hard to make the necessary steps forward to the season’s remaining races.
His teammate Nico Rosberg failed to deliver his best run for the team and completed 55 laps over the race. He told the media, “It was not my race today and it's been a tough weekend. I had a poor start and lost positions which made it very difficult to try
and get into the points. Our race pace was not good enough, and it was very difficult to push.”
The team’s overall work was quite strong on Sunday with good stops. It was very exciting to see how the both cars remained consistent, at the circuit in very challenging conditions. Brawn added that very soon they will start working on their machine and
make the car more competitive for the upcoming races of this season.
After the successful Malaysian Grand Prix, all F1 team are looking for another challenging time in the Chinese Grand Prix.
