Michael Schumacher admits he might retire from Formula 1 once again soon – Formula 1 news
The seven-time former Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher has recently admitted that he might retire from the sport once again since he does not have the ‘right mindset’ Mercedes GP require.
“I arrived at Mercedes with a specific task: not winning at all costs but to grow the team. If anything, I am the problem: it is a fact that I am a bit more relaxed than before and I do not know if my mindset is right for this team,” he said.
Mercedes GP have not been able to secure a single podium since it became a part of the sport in 2010 despite the fact that the same management that enabled BrawnGP in winning the 2009 Formula 1 titles is handling the team.
After their championship-winning run, Michael Schumacher also got tempted to return to the sport with his old friend Ross Brawn who is currently the team principal of Mercedes GP.
They stated that they will continue their momentum and challenge the top running teams once again for the titles in 2010 after ‘converting’ into Mercedes GP.
Nico Rosberg also joined the team and despite the fact that they have two very good drivers, they are still lacking pace and are now the best ‘mid-running’ team of the sport which is not satisfactory at all for them.
Since Schumacher’s return has been quite disappointing for him, he has now stated that he is going to ‘evaluate’ his performance and decide his future after that.
“At some point we will evaluate whether I continue or stop,” added Schumacher.
By the looks of it, the seven-time world champion will not be able to do much for the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season and the most disappointing thing for him is that his teammate has been scoring better results than him on a regular basis.
However, if Schumacher retires from the sport, it is believed that Mercedes GP might be interested in signing Paul di Resta, who is currently driving for Force India as his replacement.
