Michael Schumacher aims podium in 2012 Malaysian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Mercedes AMG driver Michael Schumacher aims a podium finish at 2012 Malaysian Grand Prix which is going to be held at Sepang International Circuit on Sunday.
Schumacher, after securing an impressive third place in the grid at second GP, expressed that he was delighted by his performance and would try his best to convert his result of qualifying into a podium position in the race.
“I'm feeling happy, certainly,” Schumacher said. “It's a good achievement for us considering where we've come from last year and considering who again is behind us. Not only now in Australia - which is a sometimes unusual circuit for car performance - but
even in a difficult track like Malaysia we managed to do a good job. Thanks to the guys here we are, let's hope we can be in an equal position tomorrow.”
Mercedes had quite a reliable pre-season this year as compared to the last one in which they could scarcely managed to test run before the first race. Moreover, the design of W03 has been deemed as the most innovative and competitive design with the novel
DRS- activated F-duct device.
The seven-time world champion finished third at qualifying just after running one lap in the car while making the use of the new device. Furthermore, he said that it was the best result they could have managed to secure.
Besides, he said that they were happy with the result and were looking forward for the race on Sunday.
In addition, while answering about the issue of tyre degradation which hindered the performance of the Brackley based team in the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia last week, he said that he was more concerned with the conditions
at Sepang rather than worrying about how the car was functioning.
He also asserted that they had learnt from their mistakes at the first race. He added that the whole team had done a great job to make the necessary improvements and the substantial preparations for the race ahead. Moreover, he said that he was contented
with the team’s progress regarding the development of the car.
