Michael Schumacher aims to qualify amongst top ten – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher has said that they are aiming to qualifying amongst top ten positions so as to make their strategy easier for the 2012 Korean Grand Prix.
Schumacher and his teammate, Nico Rosberg seemed quite comfortable behind the wheel of their cars in the free Friday practice sessions at Korea International Circuit.
The seven-time world champion said that he was very happy with the overall performance of his car in both the sessions. Moreover, he said that the track of the next race suits their car.
Besides, he said that they are looking forward to perform well in the qualifying and are targeting to secure grid slots amongst the top ten positions. He also said that they have collected some valuable information about their car’s updates which they will
use to make further improvements.
In addition, he said that their hopes are high and they are positively looking forward to attain promising results in the forthcoming race.   
“I was pleased with both sessions today,” Schumacher said. “As expected, it looks like our car is better suited to the circuit. The day went well, so I think we can get into the top ten tomorrow and plan our strategy on that basis. We have made some small
changes, nothing major, and we looked OK on our long runs. Of course, I haven't been able to study the times from the other teams yet, but we will try to secure a solid result this weekend.”
On the other hand, team principal of Mercedes, Ross Brawn said that are contended with the team’s progress in the first two practice sessions and now they are focussing to make the necessary step-ups for the qualifying.
He also said that they are expecting different track conditions on Sunday. Therefore, he insisted that they must make the essential preparations for the race day.
Presently, the Silver Arrows are standing at 5th place in the constructors’ championship with 136 points. Additionally, they are ahead of Sauber and are behind their main rival, Lotus.
Let’s see how the German drivers perform in the remainder of the current season.
