Michael Schumacher asserts he has no regrets over his lack of performance – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher has asserted that he is not feeling regretful over his lack of performance since his return in Formula 1 back in 2010.
Schumacher took retirement from the sport in 2006, however, the thirst for racing was not quenched and he made a comeback couple of years ago with the Brackley based team.
He could not deliver any remarkable performances in the last two years and was completely outclassed by his teammate, Nico Rosberg.
Moreover, he has faced immense difficulties with finding his true potential in the current season and has retired in six out of first eleven grands prix. Although, he has shown some tremendous qualifying performances in few races, conversely, he remained
unable to convert his competitive grid slots into admirable finishes.
It is to be noted that the seven-time world champion has only been able to secure one podium finish since his return which he achieved in the European Grand Prix after taking a start from 12th grid slot.
Nonetheless, the legendary driver has said that he has no disappointments over his decision to rejoin F1. Furthermore, he said that the good and bad times are there in each and every aspect of life and so in the sports. He also said that he has enjoyed some
amazing moments with his team after his comeback.
“So far I have not regretted my comeback for second. There have been a lot of good moments, even if to the outside it hasn’t appeared so,” Schumacher insisted.
Additionally, he said that he is not targeting to win the championship while he insisted that he is not sure about the next year either.
“We don’t need to talk about winning championship this year,” he said. “And whether journey goes on next year is not clear yet.”
Above and beyond, he is eagerly eying to perform well in his 300th GP at Spa which is going to be held in the coming weekend.
“The fact that I will also take part in my 300th Grand Prix at Spa was somehow almost inevitable and we will have to celebrate it in the right way. I always look forward to racing at Spa; it’s one of highlights and definitely one of my favourite tracks,”
he added.
