Michael Schumacher avoids making predictions for 2012 Canadian GP – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher avoids making any kind of predictions for 2012 Canadian Grand Prix which is to be held at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal on June 10.
Schumacher set the 7th best time of 1 minute and 15.697 seconds in second free Friday practice session of the Canadian GP and completed 32 laps. Moreover, he followed Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber-Ferrari and remained ahead of Nico Hulkenberg of Force India.
Although, he felt good in the car and expressed that they have been able to collect some valuable information during the practice sessions which will definitely provide help in making the necessary developments for the future. However, he said that it will
be too soon to predict about the upcoming race.
“Our work was pretty typical of a normal Friday, however we used the softer tyre this morning to make sure that we could complete our full programme in case of rain later on. This afternoon, we then concentrated more on the set-up and balance. I had a good
feeling in the car but it's too early to make any predictions for the weekend so we will have a good look at all the data this evening and go from there. I really enjoy this track so it's nice to drive here again,” he said.
The seven-time world champion has only been able to score 2 points in the season so far. Even though, he has shown some incredible performances during the qualifying of several grands prix. Conversely, he could not convert his competitive grid positions
into a podium finish in any of the races.
It will be important to mentions that the record championship holder topped the timesheets in the qualifying of the Monaco GP at Circuit de Monaco. Unfortunately, he faced five-place grid penalty because of his collision with Bruno Senna of Williams in the
fifth race. Resultantly, he set off from 6th place in the grid but could not score even a single point in Monte Carlo as he was retired.
Nevertheless, the veteran German driver said that he is confidently looking forward to perform well in the approaching race.
On the other hand, the Brackley based team, currently at fifth place in the constructors’ championship with 61 points, is making the significant preparations for the forthcoming race so as to fight for the championship title this year.
