Michael Schumacher believes Mercedes will do better in Turkish race – Formula 1
Formula 1 Mercedes GP driver, Michael Schumacher, believes that his team will be ‘fast’ in the Turkish Grand Prix in light of his teammate, Nico Rosberg’s, promising run in Shanghai. He commented that Mercedes has the potential to fight with the top runners
of 2011 season’s initial races.
The team kicked off with a tough start in the 2011 season. The first two races in Australia and Malaysia proved very unlucky for Mercedes since they could not manage their best run on the grid.
In China race, Schumacher was unable to gather a good run against the strong rivals but his teammate, Rosberg, led the race and fought very hard for a podium finish until the end of the race.
The seven-time world champion is believed to recuperate with his car improvising and exhibit a much better performance in Istanbul, after the China race.
The 42-year-old added, "I know that the team have been working very hard to continue the progress that we made during the last race weekend in China and, with the help of some developments planned for Istanbul, I am confident that we can enjoy an equally
positive weekend".
After his successful performance on the Shanghai circuit, Rosberg is equally positive about the current potential of his team. The German said that Mercedes was very disappointed due to its poor results in the Melbourne and Sepang races but after leading
the Shanghai race, the team is relieved about its car that it still has the potential to compete with other strong teams.
He further added that his team, undoubtedly, did a very good job in the recent race and they also learnt countless things from the China weekend.
Rosberg told the reporters that he is quite happy with his recent performance since he considered his team to have taken a step forward to its success this season.
On the other hand, the team principal, Ross Brawn, added, "The team and drivers have worked extremely hard in the short break before the European season begins to ensure that we continue to move forward. We have a fundamentally good car and we need to achieve
its full potential in the races to come”.
He went on to say that both the drivers should be more competitive in the Turkey race to ensure a victory in the 2011 season.
The Petronas-sponsored team has decided to bring some upgrades in the new MGP-W02 car for the up-coming race of the season.
A few days ago, Schumi revealed his retirement with the team and said that he will complete his three-year contract with Mercedes and after that he will work as a ‘representative’ of the brand.
After the success in China race, the team is looking forward to its podium position in the up-coming race of this season, taking place in Istanbul, Turkey, on 8th May, 2011.
