Michael Schumacher believes Mercedes will have better results at Hockenheim – Formula 1 news
Michael Schumacher says that the Mercedes has set its sights on giving its home fans something to cheer about at the German Grand Prix.
Schumacher has been looking good in the since the last couple of races and the German is looking to continue the moment going into his home race.
Both Schumacher and his teammate and countryman Nico Rosberg will be looking to come up with performances that will cheer up the crowd. Mercedes camp looks confident as well ahead of Hockenheim.
Schumacher may have felt a bit disappointed in losing out a probable podium finish at Silverstone last weekend but he believes that the team will come up with stronger performances in the long straights and tight corners of Germany which he feels perfectly
suit the W03.
“This year is the first time that our Mercedes works team has been capable of racing right at the front, and because of that, we're hoping for lots of support from the fans and to reward them with our performance,” said Schumacher.
“Hopefully we will see a lot of Mercedes colleagues in the grandstands, and we want to do particularly well for them. We have set ourselves the clear target of giving everybody a reason to celebrate next weekend,” he added.
Team principal Ross Brawn said that the team needs to look into consistency more than anything. He felt that the British Grand Prix lacked the consistency for Mercedes which it had earlier in the season.
The performance of the team has been up and down in recent races he admitted, ranging from podium to lower points finishes. The team will need to work harder to achieve better results. Improvement is imperative to success and the car will definitely be tweaked
a bit which should help with the performance.
He said the layout of the Hockenheim track was more suited to their W03 than the high speed Silverstone layout. Let’s see how the team fares in their home grand prix this weekend.
