Michael Schumacher claims criticism will not affect him in Singapore – Formula 1 news
Former seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher has recently stated that he is not worried at all about the criticism he received for the Italian Grand Prix.
He said his approach will not change at the Singapore Grand Prix because of this criticism either.
Schumacher claims that the team needs to up its performance and perform right to the limit in order to get some wins in 2012 and probably the championship as well before adding that the team is aware their chances of challenging for the championship in 2012
are quite bleak.
“I use the rules up to the limit. As for the others complaining, I am used to it. As long as the officials say it's 'hard but okay', then I have done everything right. There should be wins but I don't think we need to talk about the title in 2012. We will
sit to discuss the future next year; I don't want to say any more than that,” Schumacher told Sport Bild.
Other than that, the German driver added that Sebastian Vettel has done a great job this year but he should not believe that the rest of the drivers cannot cope up with his pace as that is not true at all.
“The gap will be less. This year there have been races in which no one was able to follow him. That's not going to happen again,” he said.
Schumacher held Lewis Hamilton’s McLaren behind him during the Italian Grand Prix for around 23 laps and his whole performance throughout this time. This move was considered by some as a bit out of the way and drew criticism.
However, Schumacher did not get a penalty for it and in fact he was praised by many as well as this is how he is and he does push his driving skills and the rules of the sport to their very limit.
