Michael Schumacher congratulates Sebastian Vettel – Formula 1 news
Michael Schumacher has congratulated Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing on winning his third successive world championship title in 2012 Formula 1 season.
Vettel performed tremendously well throughout the season and fought until the end to claim the title. Although, he struggled during the opening few races as Red Bull faced issues concerning their car’s design because of the amendments in the rules by FIA
and the banning of double diffuser. Nevertheless, they kept on pushing hard and developed the most competitive car for their star driver during the season with which he attained remarkable results in the last few races.
Furthermore, the 25-year-old had a tough battle with Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who also surprised everyone with his amazing performance even with an incompetent car. However, the veteran German driver won the championship from Alonso by just three points.
The seven-time world champion has passed on good wishes to his compatriot on winning the title and has praised the spirit with which he performed throughout the year.
“Now that the dust has settled, I would like to again congratulate Sebastian on winning his third World Championship,” Schumacher told his website. “It was certainly a nerve-wracking race for him and he brought the season to masterful end.”
In addition, he said that he is very happy for Vettel and asserted that the right man has won the drivers’ title.
“I have known this guy so long and like him a lot; I am really pleased for him. For me, the right man won the Drivers' Championship,” he said.
It will be important to note that the record championship holder also said that he feels very sorry for the Scarlet team which came second in the drivers’ and the constructors’ championship.
Besides, he said that he has a great affiliation with Ferrari and he wished to see them as the winner of the constructors’ title this year.
