Michael Schumacher considers Fernando Alonso the strongest driver in 2012 – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher has said that Fernando Alonso of Ferrari is the strongest driver in the 2012 Formula 1 season.
Alonso has been deemed as the most favourite driver in this year’s championship fight as he has performed terrifically well even with an incompetent car during the first half of the season. Moreover, he is leading the drivers’ championship with 164 points
and has a superb lead over his main competitors, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing.
Furthermore, Schumacher said that the Spaniard has developed himself as one of the most talented drivers in the history of the sport while he said that the two-time world champion has proved his potential in each and every kind of circumstances.
“There are phases like that when everything seems to work out, but he has worked for it,” the great German said in an interview with Bild am Sonntag newspaper.
In addition, the seven-time world champion said that although his compatriot, Vettel has dominated during the last season after claiming victories in eleven races, conversely, he is facing difficulties to get back into his previous form.
“Sebastian is a great guy and a great driver, but he is dealing with a different situation now in a learning process,” said Schumacher.
Nonetheless, the most celebrated driver in the history of F1 said that to achieve greatness, one must learn to cope with the failure as victory becomes more precious if it is achieved after facing defeat in the past.
“To be a good winner, one must also be able to lose, it is a part of your development. Only when you have learned to lose can you respect and enjoy winning even more,” said the veteran German driver.
It will be important to mention that Schumacher is not the only one who called Alonso the most competent driver in the field as there are many others who think the same. For instance, the former F1 driver, Martin Brundle has called him his hero in the championship
battle until now.
Above and beyond, let’s see how the championship fight goes on in the season ahead.
