Michael Schumacher criticises Pirelli tyres again – Formula 1 news
Mercedes AMG driver Michael Schumacher has yet again criticised the new generation of Pirelli tyres and expressed his discontentment by relating them with raw eggs.
The seven-time world champion is currently standing on 18th position in the drivers’ championship with 2 points. In the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia, he qualified for 4th grid position. However, he could not score any points
as he was retired during the race.
Subsequently, in the second race at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, he secured 10th position after starting from third place in the grid. Later, in the third race at Shanghai International Circuit in China, despite showing an amazing performance
in the qualifying he could not be able to pocket even a single point.
Over and above, in the fourth race at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, he delivered quite a convincing performance as he came 10th after staring from 22ndgrid position and scored his second point of the season until now.
Furthermore, after the Bahrain GP, the record championship holder asserted quite critical remarks about the Pirelli tyres. Conversely, his teammate, Nico Rosberg supported the Italian company and admired the quality of this year’s tyres.
Nevertheless, Schumacher said that tyres play a crucial role in the races and has spoken against the Pirelli compounds once again.
“The other point that I'm not too keen about is these tyres,” Schumacher said. “I just think they are playing much too big an effect, because they are so peaky and so special that we don't put the cars or ourselves to the limit. We drive like we're on raw
eggs and don't want to stress the tyres at all otherwise you just overdo it and you go nowhere.”
The legendary F1 driver has shown some incredible performances in the qualifying of the first three races. However, he could not be able to convert his competitive grid positions into podium finishes.
Nonetheless, he said that they are trying their best to make the necessary developments and the significant preparations in order to improve their performance in the upcoming races.
The Brackley based team is presently at fifth position in the constructors’ championship with 37 points and is looking forward to perform well in the European season setting off in Barcelona on May 13, 2012.
