Michael Schumacher dejected with tenth place finish at 2012 Malaysian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Mercedes AMG driver, Michael Schumacher feels dejected after his tenth place finish in 2012 Malaysian Grand Prix held at Sepang International Circuit on Sunday.
The seven-time world champion secured the third position in the grid for the second race after showing a great performance in the qualifying.
It would be interesting to mention here that the third place finish at the qualifying had been the best result of the record championship holder since his F1 comeback two years ago.
Moreover, the veteran German driver earnestly hoped to covert his qualifying performance into a podium finish in the race. However, he could not perform well during the race and expressed that he was very much upset with performance in the second GP in which
he started from quite a competitive position and could only secure one point in the end.
“From where I started the race, it's a real shame to grab just one point at the end today and of course I would have wished for a better finish for our team,” said Schumacher.
Furthermore, at one point in time it was quite certain that Schumacher would end at 11th position. Nevertheless, he managed to avail the opportunity to cross Pastor Maldonado of Williams to finish amongst the top ten.
“After the re-start, the pace wasn't that far off but it was the same for a lot of teams so there was no way to gain positions,” Schumacher said.
Besides, Schumacher’s teammate, Nico Rosberg could only manage to finish at 13th position.
“I had a good restart and because of a good strategy I was in fourth position,” Rosberg said. “But then I had problems with my intermediate tyres. The degradation was very high which forced me to do another pit stop for a new set.”
Schumacher had a quite struggling first year of his return in which he was completely outperformed by his teammate. However, he performed reasonably well during the last year with the best result of 4th place finish at Canadian GP.
Nevertheless, the hopes are high for the legendary Schumacher for the season ahead as he continues to strive for making the improvements in his performance.
