Michael Schumacher does not expect any miracles on the track
After facing a very tough 2010 season, filled with criticism and condemnation, Michael Schumacher has turned down the expectations for the upcoming season even before its arrival. The seven-time world champion, while talking to the media earlier today said
that he hopes to see a better season than this one but that does not mean that there would be miracles taking place on the track.
The 41-year-old returned to the racing world at the start of this season after gap of three years. Having stepped in a team that bagged both, the drivers’ as well as the constructors’ championships last year, the expectations from the racing sensation were
very high. However, neither the team was able to provide with a competitive car to the driver, nor was he able to bring the best out of what he possessed. After having struggled up till mid season, the team boss, Ross Brawn decided to halt all the progress
work on the current car and moved ahead for the preparation of the next season’s package.
Keeping in mind the fact that the team is the first one to start the preparation of the 2011 car, the fans of the racing icon are now waiting to see wonders by the racer on next year’s tracks.
However, Schumacher while talking to the reporters, very vividly explained, "We began with our new car earlier than some other teams, which is an advantage. But we shouldn't expect any miracles. We cannot take two steps at once. We are after all a smaller
team than the big ones, so we have slightly less capacity."
Even though the driver failed to do good all through the season, with 4th place being his best and that too only at the second-last round of the season, still his fans anticipate seeing him pull rabbits out of the hat, just as he has always done.
While talking about the last round of the 2010 season to be held this Sunday in Abu Dhabi, Schumacher said that even if he does not actually need a podium to achieve any target, yet he would love to have one.
Moreover, the Mercedes-Benz boss Norbert Haug, while talking about the racer’s future very optimistically said, "We've seen little windows of performance with Michael, and those windows are becoming more frequent now. I think particularly in the last few
races he's had particularly good races."
