Michael Schumacher does not regret his comeback to Formula 1 – Formula 1 news
Michael Schumacher has said that he has never regretted his comeback to the sport.
Schumacher has had a difficult comeback to the sport which was not expected of the seven time champion. People had high expectations from the German but since his return in 2010 he has not been able to perform to his potential.
There are several reason that can explain why Schumacher has not been able to do his best whether it be the development of the car the Pirelli compounds or the time it is taking him to build the team that can win races.
Former drivers and critics of the sport are divided and increasingly believe that maybe the German does not have it in him anymore to win a title. Schumacher has maintained however that his return to the sport is solely for the motivation of winning another
championship.
Schumacher said that it would be a pity if he is not able to record his 92nd win but avoided any questions regarding his future at Mercedes or in the sport.
Schumacher, 43 talked about his current season and said that it has been a difficult season, a lot was expected but things did not quite go to plan, but that is the nature of the sport and he understands it well.
He also said that Fernando Alonso is looking to be the strongest driver of the current season and a favourite to take the title as well.
“Sebastian is a great guy and a great driver, but he is dealing with a different situation now in a learning process,” said Schumacher. “To be a good winner, one must also be able to lose, it is a part of your development. Only when you have learned to lose
can you respect and enjoy winning even more.”
Schumacher said that he has high hopes of doing well in Spa, he said that the circuit is like his living room for him. It is the number one race track in the world for him and he has fond memories from the track as he has been able to have some special moments
there.
It will be interesting to see how the German fares at the Belgian GP that starts over the weekend.
