Michael Schumacher eager to fight back on grid in Spanish Grand Prix: Formula 1 News
Mercedes' GP driver, Michael Schumacher, is eager to fight back on the grid, in the up-coming race of 2011 season. Despite his disappointing race in the recent Turkish Grand Prix, after first three races, he wants to show his upbeat performance on the race
track for his current team.
The seven-time world champion, kicked off to a poor season, as he was unable to deliver his best run on the grid. Due to some technical issues in his ‘MGP-W02’ car, he again failed to carry on his good race, in recent Turkish race, against the strong rivals
of Formula 1.
The 42-year-old said, "While I was not happy with my weekend in Turkey, there have been clear signs of improvements for us as a team, which obviously push and re-boost my motivation even more. It's more than encouraging to see that the hard work of the team
is starting to pay off.”
Schumi further added that the team is still very determined to make its good progress in the races of remaining season.
On the other hand, his team-mate Nico Rosberg is looking forward to his successful Barcelona next race weekend, when Petronas-sponsored team will introduce upgrades in the hopes of overcome the gap from the front runners.
Rosberg said that Mercedes make a little bit more progress in race compared to qualifying round. However, it is good for the team’s success, moreover they are happy with their improving run.
He went on to add, "I'm looking forward to Barcelona, where we will also be introducing an update package for the car, and I'm excited to see how it works. We showed a good level of performance at the final winter test on this circuit, and hopefully we can
translate that into a strong result this weekend."
The team had a worst start in 2011 season, as the first two race events, held in Australia and Malaysia, respectively proved very unlucky for both the drivers. But, the next race weekend in China was good for the team, as their driver Rosberg successfully
completed his fifth place on the grid, despite to have fuel consumption issue, during the race.
After the China race weekend, the team decided to deliver more upgrades in 'MGP-W02' car for their upbeat results. However, they started their Turkish race weekend with several new upgrades and positively finished their both Friday practice session and qualifying
round on the race track.
The 25-year-old driver took part in the race, with hopes of winning his podium position, but due to the unsupportive role of his car, he was unable to finish his pole place for the team.
The team aimed to overcome their gap from the top runners, in Spanish Grand Prix, taking place on May 22, at the Circuit de Catalunya, in Spain.
