Michael Schumacher expected to wear commemorative black cap at his 20th anniversary in Formula 1
The seven-time former Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher is expected to wear a special commemorative black cap during the 2011 Belgian Grand Prix which is expected to take place at the Spa-Francorchamps.
Schumacher has raced for teams like Ferrari, Benetton and Mercedes GP and in order to avoid any sort of incident, he is going to wear a black cap at his 20th anniversary after a month’s break in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
According to a report, it has been revealed that the cap will feature a gold stitching for his sponsor along with his autograph and gold laurels.
“Michael wanted to deliberately make no reference to any of his three teams, Benetton, Ferrari and Mercedes, but instead do something that represented him as a driver,” said spokesman Markus Schell.
Other than that, Schumacher is going to cruise at the Nurburgring circuit for the first time with turn 8-9 named in his honour recently and he stated that he is very honoured by this positive gesture from the organisers of the circuit.
“Obviously I would like to believe that this is not only making me proud, but also even faster,” he said.
However, Mercedes GP are not in a condition to win any races this season as they are way off the pace of Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull Racing team which are the top running teams of the sport.
They can score a podium though and possibly a double point finish if they come up with a good race strategy for this weekend’s German Grand Prix.
Sebastian Vettel on the other hand has a great chance of winning his home race and increasing his dominant championship lead this weekend.
Since almost 25 percent of the sport’s drivers are German, this coming weekend’s race at the Nurburgring is going to be quite exhilarating. It is going to be interesting to see how all of them perform this weekend keeping in mind that the Nurburgring might
not stay as a part of the Formula 1 calendar for the future after this weekend’s race.
