Michael Schumacher feels completely motivated for 2012 Japanese GP – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher has said that he is feeling completely motivated in his team for the 2012 Japanese Grand Prix despite the fact that he will be replaced by Lewis Hamilton, who is presently in McLaren, in 2013.
Hamilton has recently announced that he is going to join the Brackley based team as Nico Rosberg’s teammate in the coming year while Schumacher’s future is still uncertain in the sport.
Meanwhile, the seven-time world champion has been surrounded by many rumours that he will retire after this year or will join Sauber as Sergio Perez’s replacement who has signed a multi-year contract with McLaren. However, the record championship holder
has not expressed anything about his future plans and has said that he is just focussing to perform well in the remainder of the season.
Additionally, he said that he is not disappointment over his replacement in the team for the next season and has asserted that he is very much encouraged for the forthcoming race which is to be held at Suzuka this weekend.
Furthermore, he said that he has always liked racing in Japan and said that the track of the upcoming race is one of the most challenging circuits in the calendar and he is eagerly looking forward to attain competitive results.
“My motivation is completely intact after the news last week, especially because Suzuka is one of the season's highlights for me,” he said. “I enjoy the circuit - it has sections that challenge you as a driver like almost nowhere else. Then there are the
fans: they love motor racing and it is fun to feel their passion. I'm also a big fan of Japanese food, so I'm always happy to travel to this race.”
The veteran German driver will face a ten-place grid penalty because of the accident he caused in the Singapore GP. Nonetheless, he is still feeling optimistic about the approaching race and is hoping to secure a good position.
“Logically, it would also be nice to achieve a sporting highlight this weekend, although my chances are of course very limited because of my grid penalty,” he added.
