Michael Schumacher feels excited to be on top again – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher has said that he is feeling extremely excited after setting the best time in the qualifying of 2012 Monaco Grand Prix held at Circuit de Monaco.
The seven-time world champion topped the timesheets in the qualifying of Monaco GP with his best time of 1 minute and 14.301 seconds.
Furthermore, it will be important to mention that it has been the best ever qualifying performance of the veteran German driver since his comeback in the sport couple of years ago.
The record championship holder expressed that he is very much delighted with his performance in the qualifying in Monte Carlo.
“First of all, I'm more than thrilled about making the pole position here in Monaco,” he said. “Monaco is the track of the year - it has a very prestigious position. To manage pole position here after what happened in the last two and half years is just
fabulous and that's what will stick in my mind.”
However, he has to face five-place grid penalty because of his collision with Bruno Senna of Williams in the Spanish GP held at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.
Nonetheless, he said that he is confidently looking forward to perform well in the race ahead as he asserted before that he will claim the pole and began the race from sixth grid position and will end up victorious.
“I told you guys already in the press conference that my situation was that I would try to be on pole and start the race from sixth and go and win it. That's what I'm here for and that's what I'll aim for,” he added.
Besides, he praised his team and expressed his warm gratitude for all the staff members who have trying to their best to make the necessary developments and the significant preparations in order to improve the pace W03 for the approaching races. He added
that he is pleased with performance of the car.
Over and above, he has only been able to score 2 points in the season so far. Moreover, he retired in three of the first five races. Nonetheless, he is encouraged and determined to deliver his best in forthcoming season.
