Michael Schumacher has made the right decision to take retirement at the end of 2012 – Formula 1
Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher has probably made the right decision to take retirement at the end of 2012 Formula 1 season after Lewis Hamilton of McLaren announced that he is going to join the Brackley based team in 2013.
Hamilton’s contract with the Woking based team is going to end at the conclusion of this year and after the Singapore Grand Prix, he confirmed that he has signed a new agreement with the Silver Arrows for the next season leaving Schumacher’s future uncertain
in the sport. Nonetheless, just few days after the news of the British driver’s move to Mercedes, the seven-time world champion declared that he has decided to retire after this season.
Even though, it was quite hard for the fans to hear the retirement news of the most celebrated driver in the history of F1. Nonetheless, the record championship holder expressed that he has taken the decision as he doesn’t feel fully motivated for the sport.
Furthermore, he said that he is not feeling upset over his decision as he has achieved so much in his career and is very happy with his overall accomplishments so far.
In addition, after announcing his retirement, he said that he is looking forward to perform at his best in the remainder of the season and will try his best to attain competitive points for his team so as to secure a good position in this year’s championship
fight.
“My motivation is completely intact after news last week, especially because Suzuka is one of season's highlights for me,” he said. “I enjoy circuit it has sections that challenge you as a driver like almost nowhere else. Then there are the fans: they love
motor racing and it is fun to feel their passion. I'm also a big fan of Japanese food, so I'm always happy to travel to this race. Logically, it would also be nice to achieve sporting highlight this weekend, although my chances are of course very limited because
of my grid penalty. But I've always approached these things as challenge.”
Although, the veteran German driver has decided to retire at the conclusion of this season but his achievements and contributions to the world of F1 will stay alive forever.
