Michael Schumacher hopes for podium finish in 2012 Formula 1 season – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher has said that he is hoping to secure a podium finish in 2012 Formula 1 season as they have a car which is competent enough to fight for it.
The Brackley-based team had one of the most dependable pre-season testing programme this year as compared to the previous season in which they could not be able to test drive their car before the first race.
The record championship holder took retirement in 2006 and made his return in F1 couple of years ago with Mercedes. However, has not been able to stand on podium since his comeback in the sports. Nevertheless, he is very keen and hopeful that he will be able to secure podium in this season with W03’s pace.
The seven-time world champion expressed that after making the best of the efforts they have developed a car which can bring podiums in the races ahead. Therefore, he said that he is feeling encouraged and looking forward to perform well in order to take victories and secure podium finishes.
“Whether I have been winning or not winning any podium or good result is welcome at any time, that is the same. We started this project with a different perspective but you have to look at the reality and the reality is that we have a car that can be on the podium and can win races so the sooner the better,” he said. “So we were able to work the car under no race conditions and just to work specific programmes and to learn about this car and it was very helpful.”
Furthermore, his teammate and compatriot, Nico Rosberg claimed his first ever victory in the third race held at Shanghai International Circuit in China. It will be extremely interesting to mention that this is the first GP win of the German team since 1955.
Over and above, with a perfect mix of talented and experienced pair of drivers, Schumacher and Rosberg, complemented with the expert and proficient staff, they have are surely in a very strong position to fight for the championship title this year.
