Michael Schumacher invites whole Formula 1 paddock for his 20th anniversary in Formula 1 racing
Mercedes GP driver Michael Schumacher has recently announced that he has invited all of the members of the Formula 1 paddock for a drink for celebrating his 20th anniversary in Formula 1 before the Belgian Grand Prix which is scheduled to take
place on August 28, 2011.
“It will be a special moment for me. I will invite the whole paddock for a drink on Saturday evening,” he told the media.
Schumacher became a part of Formula 1 back in 1991 when he drove for Team Jordan at the Belgian Grand Prix. Back then, nobody knew that this German driver would turn out to be one of the most legendary drivers of the sport and even at the age of 42, he is
still performing in the sport.
He has secured 7 world titles in his career and has driven for teams like Benetton and Ferrari during their respective peak times.
He gave Ferrari 5 world championships in a row from 2000-2004 and that has been the longest championship reign in the history of the sport.
Statistically, the Mercedes driver has secured almost all of the records of the sport including most wins and podiums records. He has won a total of 91 races and secured 154 podium positions. He has scored 68 pole positions throughout his 20-year long career.
Schumacher has set a benchmark for the existing drivers of the sport and by the looks of it, his records seem unbeatable as he is one of the few drivers who have been a part of the sport actively for more than 15 years.
He returned to the sport in 2010 with Mercedes GP alongside his old friend and partner Ross Brawn. He wanted to score even better results with the team as they were hoping of becoming one of the top running teams of the sport but due to technical reasons,
they have not been able to perform at their best and are still struggling to score podiums or wins which was their initial goal.
