Michael Schumacher is reminded of 2006 by last race of his F1 career – Formula 1 news
Mercedes Michael Schumacher has admitted that he was reminded of his last race in 2006 as he finished the last race of his F1 career in the Brazilian Grand Prix this weekend.
“What an exciting and eventful Grand Prix!” Schumacher said. “Strangely enough, my last ever Formula One race began with a puncture which pushed me down the running order. But it's always been my philosophy to never give up - there's always a chance, you
just have to keep going and seize it when it comes.”
Since Schumacher has decided to retire the second and final time, he has confessed that he has received immense support from his fans, especially after his return to F1 from his first retirement at the end of 2006. He said that he has shared many beautiful
moments and also tough moments with his fans but they never stopped supporting him for which he is very thankful to them.
As Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel, who also shares Schumacher’s German nationality, became the youngest triple champion, the retiring driver said that he was proud of him and the way he kept driving gracefully despite several things going wrong for him.
He added that he is very satisfied with the last race of his career and that it was quite exciting. He stated that he is immensely thankful to his team and that he has enjoyed the time of his life which he spent in this sport.
Schumacher finished the race in seventh place behind Vettel but he had suffered a car puncture earlier in the race just like he had in 2006 when he was fighting for the F1 championship against Fernando Alonso. The German driver has already confirmed earlier
that this time his retirement from F1 is final and he has no plans of returning now.
The driver has enjoyed a long and fabulous career. Before retiring in 2006, he had already secured seven F1 championships and has the record of winning five championships consecutively. He has secured 155 podium finishes and scored 1,556 race points during
his extensive career of more than 20 years.
