Michael Schumacher keenly looks forward to 2012 Singapore Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher is keenly looking forward to 2012 Singapore Grand Prix which is going to be held at Marina Bay Street Circuit at night on September 23.
Schumacher has not been able to score even a single point in the Singapore GP since his return in the sport, couple of years ago.
In 2010, he could only secure 13th place finish as he struggled with a damage caused by a collision and in the preceding season, he was retired in the race as he hit Sergio Perez of Sauber from the back.
Nevertheless, the hopes of the veteran German driver are high and he is not feeling upset over the issues which he was encountered with, in the past. Moreover, he is aiming to achieve a promising result in the forthcoming race.
The seven-time world champion said that the approaching race is the most different one in the calendar as it is held in the night lights and on a street circuit where overtaking is immensely difficult. However, he said that he is ready for the action and
is targeting to perform well in the race ahead.
“Singapore is a one-off in lots of ways, with the city, racing at night and circuit itself,” he said. “It's a brilliantly unusual race. At first sight, everything seems more relaxed because action happens at night, but of course it's not like that at all.”
Besides, he said that the track of the upcoming race is a very challenging and it is very hard to get a faultless lap there as it is completely different as compared to the other circuits.
“The reality is that you have to work hard to stay on European time and in right bio-rhythms, so that you can perform perfectly in race because it's unusual to be competing at this time of day. The nice thing is that circuit is very technically demanding
and it's very tricky to get a perfect lap,” he added.
Above and beyond, he said that after securing competitive result in the previous race, they are hoping to keep on scoring more points in the season ahead.
