Michael Schumacher king of autoracing needs Mercedes Boss Nick Fry's support
Since the end of the Canadian Grand Prix, Michael Schumacher had been under continuous criticism from the reports, analysts and commentators from all around. In the last week he had to face a lot of critical judgements, but after the much heated words that were thrown at him, the Mercedes GP chief executive, Nick Fry came forward for his driver’s defence.
Finally he talked to the media telling them that the team is pretty happy with Schumacher and they hope that in a little time he would get momentum and would be able to show what he is really capable of. He revealed his disappointment over the intense criticism extended towards him as the team boss thought that his driver did not deserve that.
The 41-year-old driver had been off the race world for a period of three years, before he made his return at the start of this season. In the beginning of the season many accepted that the comeback could be hard for the once racing king however with eight races already passed, now people’s expectations have increased as well as the analysts think that he has had enough time for the warm up and now it is time to see him perform.
However, the British Chief thinks that both the team members have done a good job and there was nothing very disappointing about their performance. Fry added that he is happy with the decision of the team, for having the great German driver as part of them since he is a very good influence for the team. Fry happily declared that he not only pushes the team real hard but also that he has a lot of things to teach to his team mate, Nico Rosberg who is happy to learn from his experience. A good friendly relation among the team members is always a key for the success of the team, Fry declared.
He also added that at Montreal they have had a good time and it was a surprise to read and hear the way the analysts have criticized him.
In Canada Schumacher had to face a puncture and after that a tough time had to be faced with his tyres, resulting in his finish at the eleventh place. After the race he had to face a lot of sarcastic comments for his performance. His former teammate and now a BBC commentator Martin Brundle, after the race said that if it had been a new boy driving his way anybody would have thought that he was yet not prepared for the Formula One. Also Eddie Jordan, who gave Schumacher a chance for his debut Grand Prix in his team, after seeing him race in Canada said that the driving was a “shocker” for him.
After the Canadian Grand Prix Michael Schumacher stands at the ninth place in the Driver’s Championship with a total of thirty four points, forty points shy of his team mate Nico, who has been able to gather seventy four points so far. However, the team had been able to capture the forth place in the Constructor’s Standings with one hundred and eight points next to the Ferrari that has earned a hundred and sixty one point in eight races.
With eleven races yet to go the team is still hopeful to gain some good points as Fry says that it might be a tough target to beat Red Bull and McLaren with around half a season already gone, however the team is determined to move beyond Ferrari. The team is now looking forward for ending in the top three, which if they could not, the season would end up to be really disappointing for the team in general and for Michael Schumacher in particular.
