Michael Schumacher looks forward to spend time with his family – Formula 1 news
Michael Schumacher has said that he is looking forward to spend time with his family after taking retirement from the sport for the second time.
Schumacher made his comeback to F1 with Mercedes in 2010. Although, he came back with highest hopes to claim another championship title, however, he could not achieve his aim and was completely outclassed by his teammate, Nico Rosberg in the last two seasons.
In this season, the veteran German driver performed quite convincingly as compared to the preceding two years. He successfully claimed an impressive third podium finish in the European Grand Prix. However, he could not score points with consistency as the
Brackley based team struggled with technical and tyre management issues throughout the year.
The seven-time world champion announced his retirement after the news of Lewis Hamilton’s move to the Silver Arrows in the next season was confirmed.
The team principal, Ross Brawn called Schumacher as the best driver of the last century and expressed that they share some of the most memorable moments in the sport which they will always cherish in the future.
Furthermore, he insisted that the record championship holder faced difficulties because they failed to make the necessary developments in their car.
There have been a lot of speculations that the 43-year-old may get any other role in Mercedes in the next season. On the other hand, the legendary driver has said that he is currently looking forward to just spend some quality time with his family and has
made no specific plans for the future.
“Why would anyone worry what Michael Schumacher is going to do when he stops?” the 43-year-old is quoted by RTL.
“He has a family and is just happy to spend time with them and not have too many plans,” he said. “And, anyway, my calendar will be full next year.”
It will be important to note that he has also been linked with the role of head of Mercedes motorsport which has recently been left by Norbert Haug after 22 years.
Let’s see whether the most successful driver in the history of F1 accepts any other role in the sport or not.
