Michael Schumacher made an exceptional return with an impossible task – Alain Prost
Formula 1 living legend Alain Prost has been one of the best drivers the sport has ever seen. Prost won the title Four-times and after his retirement, he has been one of the best analysts of the sport.
According to Alain, Michael Schumacher made a very tough and brave decision by returning to the sport even though he is not the youngest driver on the grid and with reference to that, he has set his goals too high. The seven time world champion hopes to
score another drivers’ championship soon but it seems that it won’t be as easy as it seems. In fact, it will be more than impossible to beat his rivals as they are more used to the machinery.
At the annual Race of Champions, Prost took part after pairing up with Sebastien Loeb to represent his country. However, the toughest team in that event was from Germany as the world champion Sebastian Vettel teamed up alongside the seven time world champion
Michael Schumacher.
“I was not expecting better, because I know it's difficult to come back after three years stopped,” Prost told the Media.
Michael Schumacher had the worst season of his career this year and it seemed that he might not come back for another year after an embarrassing performance. However, the German wants to prove that he is still the best driver in the sport therefore, he will
return once again in Mercedes for another season next year. Team Mercedes has decided to keep their drivers’ list unchanged for 2011 but since Nico has been constantly outperforming the German legend, it won’t be easy to extract the best possible pace out
of the car for Michael.
“What he has done is already very good - almost exceptional. The target to be world champion in his comeback was really impossible, also because the team and the car was not at the same level as Red Bull, McLaren or Ferrari,” Prost added.
Prost believes that Michael should just walk away with his tail between his legs but it is quite understandable what Schumacher is trying to prove. The German driver finished in 9th place this season and it seems that rising from such a difficult
spot is nearly impossible.
It would definitely be interesting to see what Michael comes up with for 2011 as he is expected to return with Team Mercedes alongside Nico Rosberg once again.
“So wait and see, but it's a very, very difficult challenge. But it's part of life, sometimes you need to take a challenge that seems unbelievable. What he has done, I think only he could have done it. But maybe the target was a little bit too high,” said
the French legend.
