Michael Schumacher motivated about future after Mercedes GP statements
The 7-time Formula 1 world champion, Michael Schumacher, has recently stated that he is now motivated about his future in Formula 1, as a result of his team Mercedes GP’s recent statements.
“While I was not happy with my weekend in Turkey, there have been clear signs of improvements for us as a team, which obviously push and re-boost my motivation even more”, Schumacher said.
Schumacher went through a tough time after this past weekend’s Turkish Grand Prix as he finished in 12th place after qualifying in 8th place, while his teammate, Nico Rosberg, scored 5th place after starting the race from
the 3rd place on the grid.
After this disappointing result, Michael stated that “The big joy is not there right now”.
As a result of this comment, reports suggested that the 7-time Formula 1 world champion might retire from the sport by the end of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
However, the German driver has recently stated that he is motivated about the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix.
“It's more than encouraging to see that the hard work of the team is starting to pay off. We are all determined to make progress”, he said.
Other than that, the team’s boss, Ross Brawn, has recently stated that the team is going to apply several upgrades to its car for the upcoming race, in order to improve the consistency of the car throughout the race.
“The last two races in Turkey and China have proved that we can be quick in certain conditions but we need to focus on achieving that level of performance consistently over the entire race weekend”, said Brawn.
Michael has won the Spanish Grand Prix six-times and he claims that he is looking forward to returning to the Catalunya circuit.
He added that the Spanish Grand Prix traditionally prepares the drivers for the European phase of the Formula 1 season and that the drivers are quite prepared for Circuit de Catalunya, since they get to test their cars there before the beginning of the Formula
1 season.
