The Autosport magazine has revealed its list of top 50 drivers in 2010 and there is no place for the seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher in that list.
The list comes out annually and there are drivers from all the world of motor sports in the list. The results are based upon the quality of the drivers, competitiveness, experience and the results they achieve.
The youngest-ever Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel is at the top of the list and the McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton is second in that list. Hamilton finished fourth in the Formula 1 season behind Mark Webber. NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson was third on the
list and apart from him all the other drivers are from Formula 1 in the top four.
The same list has Nico Rosberg as 12th who is the teammate of Schumacher in Mercedes but the Editor Andrew Van De Burgt said that Schumacher was unimpressive in the season due to which how was not a part of the list. Andrew said that he Schumacher
didn’t even have a single good race in 2010 which could have convinced him to add the legendary driver in that list.
He said, “He didn't make a single visit to the podium and didn't really do any of the stuff we expected from him. Coupled with that, his comeback was easily the most hyped and eagerly anticipated I can remember. The expectations were so great and the results
so disappointing.”
Andrew further added that all what was required from Schumacher was to show a glimpse of his past and he would have been in the top 50 list. He said that he can’t think of a single race where the legendary driver caught the attention of the fans.
He said that Schumacher was not even near to the performance of his teammate Rosberg who is not an exceptional driver. He still praised the efforts of Rosberg who had a good result in the season compared to Schumacher.
There was another surprise name in the list of Timo Glock but defending his name in the list, Andrew said, “Glock drives for a team that didn't have much in the way of resources but got some pretty decent performances out of that car in a way you didn't
see Schumacher doing.”
