Michael Schumacher not willing to leave Formula 1 so easily this time
Michael Schumacher had a disastrous 2010 Formula 1 season but he has high hopes for the 2011 Formula 1 season.
It was believed that Michael would leave Formula 1 for good this time if he loses the title in 2011 but the 7-time world champion revealed that that is not the case.
He recently stated that the team has a three-year project with Michael and he is not going to step down so easily.
“Very clearly right now, we are not where we want to be. We've put a lot of effort into coming back and are optimistic we have a chance, but in the history of Formula One, when does it ever happen that you come back straightaway from this level to win in
just one year? Very rarely”, he said.
Schumacher finished in 9th place more than 70 points behind his teammate, Nico Rosberg, who finished in 7th place in the drivers’ standings. Nico was clearly the better driver in 2010 as he outraced Michael at almost every race.
However, since Formula 1 will have Pirelli as their lone tyre suppliers in 2011, Michael believes that this time, he will ensure himself that Team Mercedes comes up with the best possible package, which suites his likings and the new tyre compounds launched
by Pirelli.
“I'm sure we can fight for wins this year and we might be able to fight for the championship. I hope so. I'm here on a mission and I want to succeed. I want to perform and I'm going to put 100% into it, and if that's not the case in 2011, then we will have
to do it in the final year”, he added.
Most of the fans believe that Michael will not be able to win another title in his career but the 7 time world champion thinks different.
He believes that 2011 might be a good year for him and Fernando Alonso also stated that Michael Schumacher is going to be one of the biggest threats for the top running teams.
Other than that, Mika Hakkinen, Jos Verstappen, Adrian Sutil and some other drivers agree with Fernando and they all believe that Michael is going to be on the top once again given that he is provided with a competitive car in 2011.
It is expected that Team Mercedes will reveal its new car at the first pre-season Test session, which is expected to take place in Valencia on the 1st of February.
It would be interesting to see what Team Mercedes has in store for us for the upcoming season since the team is expected to perform at its best in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
