Michael Schumacher reveals he turned off his engine in 2012 Hungarian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher has said that he turned off his car’s engine after the yellow lights appeared in the 2012 Hungarian Grand Prix.
Schumacher insisted that he didn’t cause the start to be aborted and said that he switched off his engine as the grid was not moving while he said that his car was overheated.
“We had yellow lights, pretty high engine temperatures and I decided to switch off the engine as they were waiting so long,” Schumacher said. “Obviously that meant starting from the pit lane, then I got a puncture. I don't know how or what happened to pick
up a puncture because obviously there was no contact; I was alone by myself. Then having a drive through - I think maybe the pit lane limiter or something didn't work through the puncture phase - and then the race was decided.”
The veteran German driver said that they have been working very hard to make their position stronger in the championship battle and were aiming to score some reasonable points in the Hungarian GP. However, they could not attain the desired results in the
preceding race.
