Michael Schumacher says he has no plans to race after retirement – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher has said that he has no plans to race after his retirement at the end of 2012 Formula 1 season.
Schumacher decided to say goodbye to the sport at the conclusion of this season after the news of Lewis Hamilton’s move to the Brackley based team was confirmed.
After he announced his retirement, there have been many speculations that he may compete in other autosport events. However, the seven-time world champion has discharged all the rumours and has said that he has no plans to take part in any kind of racing competition after his retirement.
“No, it's not in my plans,” Schumacher told Gazzetta dello Sport when asked if he will race elsewhere. “Formula 1 offers the maximum as far as emotions, speed and work completeness are concerned.”
Furthermore, he said that F1 has offered him everything and he doesn’t feel the need of experiencing anything else.
“Another type of cars wouldn't give me the same feelings. I'm stopping here completely,” he said.
He added, laughing: “I think I'll do Western riding competitions. My wife Corinna, who has done this sort of competitions for years, has already chosen the right horse for me. I'll go for it.”
The record championship holder struggled during the preceding two seasons after his comeback and was completely outperformed by his teammate, Nico Rosberg. Nevertheless, he has performed quite well in the season until now and has secured an incredible third podium finish in the European Grand Prix.
Even though, he said that he returned to the sport with an aim to win the championship title which he could not achieve, nonetheless, he asserted that he is not feeling upset over his decision and is very happy with his overall achievement in his career until now.
“[It is] a relief, because I have no regrets, just joy for what I've done,” the veteran German driver said.
It will be important to mention that the team principal of the Silver Arrows, Ross Brawn who has been with the Schumacher for quite a long time said that the 43-year-old is indeed the greatest driver of the century.
