Michael Schumacher says he is content with the result of the British Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Michael Schumacher says the team achieved what it could at the British Grand Prix.
Schumacher finished the qualifiers at third place behind Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber under wet conditions. The veteran had made it clear during the weekend that he was hoping for a wet race. The conditions suited the seven-time champion and he was banking
on them to secure his second podium of the season.
The race however was dry contrary to what the weather forecast was showing. Both Mercedes failed to make an impact in the race. Schumacher had a good start to the race but was not able to maintain his position and moved back to 10th place at one point in
the race.
He however moved up again to finish seventh in the race while his team-mate Nico Rosberg could only manage 15th place. Schumacher admitted that the track did not suit the car but still he was content with the way they showed competitiveness at the end of
the race.
He said that he was able to get some vital points for the team and now the team will look forward to the coming Grands Prix.
“We achieved what was possible for us today, and we have to be satisfied with that. We were pretty competitive towards the end of the race, but overall we knew that the characteristics of this circuit wouldn't suit us in normal conditions - we definitely
could have done better in the wet,” he said.
“Even so, we managed to score a few points, which can be important for the team. Our attention now turns to Hockenheim, our next home circuit, where things should look better in any case. I can only say to all motorsport fans that we are counting on your
support. Like always in Germany, it will be a very special weekend, and we want to celebrate it together with them. So make sure you're there in Hockenheim!” added the German.
Rosberg admitted that the weekend has not worked for him and he struggled throughout. He was really disappointed with the result and now hopes that the team can perform much better at Germany so that he can give the home fans something to cheer about.
