Michael Schumacher says he is open minded about his chances for Silverstone – Formula 1 news
Michael Schumacher has said that he is open minded about his chances at the British Grand Prix.
Schumacher who got his first podium finish since his comeback to the sport at the European Grand Prix is now looking to go into the British Grand Prix to get similar results.
The seven-time world champion is remaining practical over his chances at the venue. He said that the current season has been so unpredictable that there is little room for speculations.
Schumacher has had a bad run in the follow up to the Valencia GP as he has only been able to finish three races out of the eight completed so far in the season. The errors were both mechanical and team related where Schumacher has suffered. The German though
has remained calm and level headed during his bad patch and is now hoping that the result at Valencia will prove to be the catalyst for the remainder of the season.
“I have many contrasting memories of this circuit; good, not so good and some that are even a little strange... as for how things will go this year, I'd prefer to wait and see,” said the three-time British GP winner.
“We have already seen plenty of races this year that turned out differently to the expectations before the weekend. Of course, we want to take the momentum from our result in Valencia and put on a good show in Silverstone, especially because this is one
of our home races. It goes without saying that we want to give everybody in Brackley and Brixworth a result to be proud of this weekend,” he added.
Team principal Ross Brawn said that the team was ecstatic by Schumacher’s success after the troubles and misfortune he has gone through in the season.
He added that the team’s successful weekend in Valencia has provided a further boost to the team which was imperative for the team to move forward putting in the hard work for the season ahead.
He is hopeful of another successful season at Silverstone. It will be interesting to see how Mercedes fare at the British Grand Prix.
