Michael Schumacher set to drive Mercedes F1 car in Nurburgring - Formula 1 news
Michael Schumacher will be back in action to drive a 2011 Mercedes Formula 1 car at the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany on Sunday, May 19, 2013. The
demo run is planned for a build up to the Nurburgring 24 Hours, which is going to take place this year.
The seven-time world champion was excited to get back in a Formula 1 car and said that he would like to give some fond memories to his fans, who want to see him
in action once again.
He stated, “I have a lot of fond memories of the Nurburgring and am really looking forward to giving fans and friends from my home town of Kerpen, which is quite
close to the Nurburgring, something to remember as they see me drive by.”
Moreover, the legendary German said that he was looking forward to driving at one of the most demanding circuits around.
He added, “But it will be a fantastic experience for me too, driving along the Nordschleife in a state-of-the-art Formula 1 Silver Arrow, particularly in view of
the fact that the Silver Arrow's legend began here. Posting a lap in a modern Silver Arrow on the most beautiful and most testing circuit in the world, what a brilliant mix - it's every motor racing driver's dream.”
Schumacher is undoubtedly one of the greatest champions of all time and it will be difficult for anyone to match his achievements in Formula 1. He was dominant
during his years with Ferrari, but retired at the end of the 2006 season.
However, he missed the sport after retirement and decided to make a comeback with Mercedes in 2010. The decision did not prove to be a right one, as the car was
simply not good enough to allow him a chance to battle at the front against top teams.
Despite that, Schumacher completed his three-year contract with the team and then decided to leave the sport for good. Later, he decided to take on an ambassadorial
role with the Silver Arrows and will definitely be seen in some action every now and then.
Although his fans will be unable to see him in wheel to wheel action again, yet they can cherish some memories by seeing the legend behind the wheels of a Formula
1 car once again.
