Michael Schumacher silences his critics with superb run at Monza – Formula 1
Mercedes GP’s Michael Schumacher had his best run at the 2011 Italian Grand Prix since his return probably as he finished in a dominant 5th place after having a very strong race.
He qualified in 8th place but in the end, all the team’s hard work paid off as he secured 10 useful points for his team and by driving alongside the top running drivers of the team, proved that he still has a champion and a racer
inside him.
He kept Lewis Hamilton behind him for around 16 laps which was quite impressive but one has to admit that Mercedes were very strong just because of the fact that their car is fast on long straights.
Since Monza is one of the fastest tracks of the 2011 Formula 1 calendar, the team was looking very strong and performed at its best. Unfortunately though, Nico Rosberg was unable to finish the race despite the fact that he was looking very strong and could
have given a very strong double point finish.
Schumacher was being highly criticised from all ends but after this race, most of the critics took their words back and admitted that the 42-year-old still has a determined racer in him and he still has the ability to defend his place effectively if he has
to.
The team is not looking so good for this season overall but they claim that they will not rest until they become a championship winning team. However it is not possible this year as they are way off the pace of the top running teams of the sport and are
currently in 4th place.
It seems that Mercedes will finish ahead of Lotus Renault GP who are currently in 5th place in the constructors’ standings but they have not been able to cope up with the team.
With just 6 races left in the season, there is not much Mercedes GP can do anymore as a result of which they are now working on their new car in order to secure a good car for the upcoming season.
However, the team has claimed that they are not going to become a race-winning team so easily and they still need time in order to stabilise their performance as compared to the top running teams of the sport.
Ferrari and McLaren are also quite frustrated about this season and they are also working on their new cars as a result of which the next season is going to be quite difficult for the top running teams if things go well for these three teams.
Schumacher on the other hand claims that he is going to stay at the team at least until the end of his contract which is expected to expire after the 2012 Formula 1 season.
He claims that he is going to help the team until they become a race winning team and since the team is very determined and working extremely hard on its new car, the team might finally achieve its goals soon and become at least one of the top running teams
of the sport.
