Michael Schumacher still has a potential for strong fight: Formula 1 News
Mercedes GP’s team still thinks that his driver, Michael Schumacher, can start to build up a serious title after a disappointing start to 2011 season.
Taking the season’s previous race weekend in Turkey, Mercedes Formula 1 team is convinced that his driver still have the ability to fight again for this year’s championship, as his team is hoping for better and developed results in the upcoming races of
2011’s season.
The seven-time world champion stated, "Even doing that race, I enjoyed part of that race, with the overtaking and the action I had, but then the result I certainly did not enjoy. I had no issues and no problem with anything that is coming up ahead of me
now."
Regardless of scoring only nine points in the first four races, he said that in no doubt he can still fight for world championship position this year. He judged that if Mercedes can rapidly be upgraded with MGP-W02, then this new improvement will pump him
to get back to his seven-years’ champion status.
Ninety-one times Grand Prix winner is far and away from adding up his points. During press conference German said that there is a long season ahead. If we quickly develop our swiftness in the next races, then there would be no reason to unsatisfactory results,
that’s why they are trying their level hard for the season’s title.
The German’s former team-mate Johnny Herbert thinks that he may retire at the end of this season. He thinks that Schumacher has not even tried his best to finish on the podium positions, as his performance was not good in ongoing season. Despite to his progress
in races, Herbert admitted that at the moment he is ‘42’, but no doubt he is still quite sharp and talented driver.
However, his team gives full back up to his struggling driver, as they are expecting very high level of performance from him in remaining season. After the recent Turkish race, the Petronas-sponsored team delivered new updates in their machines, however
they are focusing more to achieve their targeted plans.
Schumacher further added, "Having a car that was capable of fifth and sixth, and deducting all the unnecessary bits in the first two laps, I would have been most likely sixth and not being there, that is obviously not the biggest fun.”
Mercedes believes his driver is still physically powerful in the field. In addition, if he can get a car which suits his mode of driving, he can definitely go for the championship again after his poor start in the season.
Schumacher is in a positive mood of heading towards Spanish Grand Prix to get the World Championship Title for the eighth time in the current season of Formula 1.
