Michael Schumacher struggles with brakes during practice session 2 at Marina Bay – Formula 1 news
Michael Schumacher of Mercedes faced issues with the brakes of his car during the free practice session 2 of the Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
He is satisfied with his car after the first day of practice however they need some time to compare with the other drivers on the circuit.
The seven times world champion explained that his car was having brake issues therefore he had to stop early. He added that such issues are related to everyday affairs and one should be prepared for such things.
Schumacher said, “I had a brake issue that's why I stopped. We have an issue now and it's certainly something you need to be prepared for.”
Schumacher told that he is satisfied with the car but he need to compare it with other drivers. The comparison will include the amount of fuel others are using and how they perform. He added that managing tyres on the Marina Bay circuit would not be easy
but the situation will be same for all drivers.
“The car feels okay, but I find it difficult to build up a picture of what is happening compared to the competitors. We need more time to analyse that and see who's going to be where, what fuel they are on and where we are. The tyres are very difficult to
manage on this track, but it's the same for everybody,” he added.
The Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn, added that their updates performed as expected during the Friday practice sessions. He added that the tyres are expected to be challenged by the hot weather and humid conditions, resulting to the degradation of the
tyres. He believes that efficient management of the tyres would be the key to success at the Singaporean GP.
Furthermore, Brawn told that they had minor brake issues at the end of the free practice 2, which forced them to stop a bit early. He added that the cars ran as expected and they have collected data which could be useful for the remainder of the weekend.
Mercedes has been facing issues related to the tyres in the current season, until now, however they have introduced upgrades to improve the performance of their machine.
Let’s see how the Mercedes drivers perform in the upcoming event.
