Michael Schumacher takes the blame for off-course deviation at Barcelona – Formula 1 news
Mercedes AMG driver Michael Schumacher has taken the blame for the off-course deviation on the second day of the final test at Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona.
Schumacher made a mistake at the turn five of the track and took the car into the gravel while stopped at the turn eight after completing 19 laps before the lunch in the morning session.
However, he set the eighth fastest lap of 1 minute 23.978 seconds on day two of the final test and completed 79 laps in total during the day while the afternoon session proved out to be quite productive for him.
Schumacher did well during the third day of the second test held at Barcelona where he set the second fastest lap time of 1 minute 23.384 seconds. Moreover, after the testing session he revealed that the new car’s competitiveness was better than it was before
while he completed 127 laps at the end of the third day of the second test.
Moreover, he said that the second day of the final test took off a struggling, partially with him too. Furthermore, he said that he thought the afternoon session would just be the same as the morning session was but hopefully it did not happen and the team
were able to make the time quite fruitful in order to make the necessary preparations for the upcoming season.
Schumacher stated that the team ended the day with an encouraging feeling. However, the results from the test could not be considered as reality because the ultimate comparison of the teams would only be possible when the season would start.
“The start of our day was something of a struggle this morning, partly down to me as well, and it seemed as if the afternoon might start that way also,” he said. “Fortunately the session turned out well, and we achieved all of the test items that we wanted.
So in the end, it was a positive day, but we will only see later how we stand compared to the other teams.”
Moreover, Schumacher has just one more day for the test run before the start of the upcoming F1 season at Melbourne, Australia.
