Michael Schumacher thinks car needs considerable improvements for podium – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver, Michael Schumacher has said that they need to make some considerable improvements in their car so as to be able to secure podium finish in the remainder of the 2012 Formula 1 season.
Schumacher has decided to take retirement at the end of the current season which he announced just a few days after the news of McLaren driver, Lewis Hamilton’s move to the Brackley based team in the next season.
The seven-time world champion was completely outperformed by his teammate, Nico Rosberg in the preceding two seasons.
Although, he has performed reasonably well in the current season until now as compared to the last two years and has secured an impressive third podium finish in the European Grand Prix. However, he is not feeling contended with his performance in the season
so far and wants to achieve more before his retirement.
Therefore, the veteran German driver is looking forward to secure more podium finishes in the remainder of the season but he believes that he can only attain the desired results if the Silver Arrows make some substantial developments in their car.
Even though, he said that it is very difficult to make the essential advancements in the car at this point in time. Nevertheless, he asserted that they are trying their best to come up stronger in the races ahead.
“It all falls with situation of whether we can significantly improve car or not,” he said. “It needs quite a bit of luck and we can't only base our results on luck. But we are still working on this car and we are aiming to improve it and go forward. But
it depends on rate we can do or not do.”
In addition, he said that they are positively looking forward to perform well in the Korean GP as he thinks that the Korea International Circuit will suit their update package.
“In terms of characteristics of track I think our package should be reasonably okay. I don't know exactly what that means but I hope we are going to be within top ten for qualifying and we will see from there on,” he added.
