Michael Schumacher tops the timesheets in FP1 of 2012 Italian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher has topped the timesheets in the first free Friday practice session of the 2012 Italian Grand Prix held at Autodromo di Monza.
Schumacher set the best time of 1 minute and 25.422 seconds in the FP1 and seemed very comfortable behind the wheel of his car W03. Moreover, the seven-time world champion was followed by Jenson Button of McLaren who looked very strong and successfully gathered
the necessary information regarding the car’s updates.
The British driver stayed ahead of Schumacher’s teammate, Nico Rosberg who was further followed by Fernando Alonso of Ferrari. Furthermore, although Alonso faced a technical issue due to which he had to stop five minutes earlier before the end of the session.
Later on, he quickly moved back to the pits so as to find out the problem with the team engineers.
The Spaniard remained ahead of his teammate, Felipe Massa who was quite consistent with his drive. Additionally, the Brazilian driver was followed by Lewis Hamilton of McLaren who stayed ahead of Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus.
Raikkonen stood ahead of Sergio Perez of Sauber who was further followed by Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing. Besides, Pastor Maldonado set the 10th best time and remained ahead of Webber’s teammate, Sebastian Vettel.
Nico Hulkenberg of Force India came 12th in the charts and was followed by the test driver of Williams, Valtteri Bottas. In addition, the Finnish driver stayed ahead of Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber.
Jerome d’Ambrosio of Lotus who has replaced Romain Grosjean for this week’s race came 15th in the timesheets and remained ahead of Force India’s third driver, Jules Bianchi.
Toro Rosso drivers, Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne came 17th and 18th in the charts and were followed by Caterham drivers, Heikki Kovalainen and Vitaly Petrov.
The Russian driver stayed ahead of Charles Pic and Timo Glock of Marussia. Over and above, Pedro de la Rosa of HRT came 23rd in the timesheets while the test driver of the Madrid based team, Ma Qing Hua came last.
Let’s see how all the teams show up in the second practice session at Monza.
