Michael Schumacher will not give up – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher has said that he has full faith in his relationship with his team which will not be influenced by the ongoing technical difficulties.
“It will have no influence,” Schumacher said in reference to the bad start into the season. “You must take other things into account when you make decisions with such an impact. I will definitely not simply give up. “I continue to believe in our joint project
and that we can do something great with Mercedes.”
The seven-time world champion has been seen struggling with the reliability issues of W03 in the season so far as he has retired in five out of first seven grands prix and has only scored 2 points.
He faced gearbox issue in the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia. Moreover, in the third race at Shanghai International Circuit in China, his tyre was not fitted properly during the pit stop.
Later, in the fourth race at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, he faced DRS activation issues. Afterwards, in the sixth race at Circuit de Monaco in Monte Carlo, the fuel pressure failure caused his retirement. Over and above, in the seventh race
at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal, he had a DRS malfunction due to which he was retired.
Even though, the record championship holder has delivered some striking performances in the qualifying of several races, conversely, he could not be able to convert his competitive grid positions into a podium finish in any of the races.
It will be important to note that the team principal of Mercedes, Ross Brawn expressed that their main target is to resolve the issues which have been faced by the veteran German driver and they are aiming to provide him with a competitive car for the forthcoming
races.
Meanwhile, Schumacher asserted that he is not feeling upset by the lack of performance in the season until now and is positively looking forward to perform well in 2012 European Grand Prix which is to be held at Valencia Street Circuit in Spain on June 24.
“Our entire focus is now on the race in Valencia, and I am sure that everybody's motivation is even stronger because the weekend in Canada didn't go as well as we had hoped,” said Schumacher.
