Michael Schumacher will not take part in the first day of first pre-season test session in Valencia
Team Mercedes recently revealed that Nico Rosberg will be the first driver to give their new car W02 a few miles at the first pre-season test session in Valencia. Nico Rosberg told the media that he will be the first person to drive the new car and the team
has devised a schedule for the first test session which is going to be “fair” for both of the team’s drivers.
However, it is quite obvious that driving the new Mercedes for the first time is a pretty big deal and it seems that the team chose Nico over Michael in this matter.
According to some reports, Michael Schumacher will not drive the new Mercedes at all on the first day of the session. Michael’s fans are definitely going to be disappointed with this planning as they expected their 7 time World Champion to be the first one
to test the new Mercedes or at least see him in action on the first day.
Other than that, it is believed that he is not driving the car because of the fact that the team is going to try its best to come up with the best possible settings for the car and on the second day, since the car is going to be perfect, Michael is going
to test the fully prepared car and maybe suggest better ideas for their settings and package according to the new tyre compound which has been introduced by Pirelli this year.
Michael Schumacher had a disappointing return to the sport despite the fact that he returned in a championship winning team. Mercedes was unable to come up with a promising package in 2010 and as a result, Michael struggled a lot.
Other than that, Bridgestone’s tyres for the 2010 Formula 1 season were not satisfactory either and as a result, the German driver was unable to perform at his best throughout the season.
But one has to admit, Nico Rosberg was the better driver throughout the season as he finished in 7th place in the drivers’ standings while Michael finished in 9th place. Nico scored twice the number of points Michael did in 2010 but
it would be interesting to see how both of them perform in the 2011 Formula 1 season with the new package.
