Michael Schumacher’s performance in the 2011 Formula 1 season so far
After coming back from a three-year retirement, the current Mercedes GP driver, Michael Schumacher is still unable to finish his race on the podium.
He was one of the talented and well-experienced drivers in Formula 1 history and won the world championship seven times in the past.
After a disappointing 2010 Formula 1 season, he took part in 2011 season with hopes of coming back to his winning ways. The 42-year-old driver is still unable to finish his good race on the podium in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Schumacher is driving Mercedes’ MGP-W02 car in the ongoing season for his team. He admitted that he is not satisfied with it, as he discussed with the media that Mercedes 2011 car is not very competitive as compared to other teams.
With regards to Schumacher’s performance in the ongoing season, he has failed to finish his first race of this season in Australia, as he had a mechanical problem in his car during the race.
The Mercedes team fixed this issue ahead of the Malaysian Grand Prix, so he participated in Malaysian race with a perfect package.
Schumacher finished his Sepang race in the ninth place after staring from the 11th place on the grid. The team driver admitted that the race results were satisfactory for him as compared to Australian Grand Prix results.
The German took part in Chinese Grand Prix with hopes of getting very close to the top-runners, but due to an unsupportive role of his MGP-W02, he could not do that. He scored some points for the team at the Shanghai race circuit and ended up at the eighth
place.
The Turkish Grand Prix proved unlucky for him, as he again failed to deliver his good performance on the grid in the ongoing season among the strong contenders over there. The German was unable to score points for his team at the Istanbul racetrack. He finished
his race at the 12th position after struggling a lot.
The Petronas-sponsored team driver put a positive step forward towards his 2011 season’s success at the Spanish Grand Prix, where he started his race from the 10th place on the grid and finished the race in the sixth place.
In the Monaco Grand Prix, he retired from the race due to a fire in air box of his car.
Schumacher had a very great time at the Canadian racetrack, where as he closed his gap to the top-runners of the season in wet conditions.
He started his Canadian race from the eighth place on the opening grid and ended up at the fourth place after struggling following the break due to heavy rain.
He was very slow during the European Grand Prix following his good start. After starting from eighth place, he ended up at the 17th position.
In the British Grand Prix, he again showed his unimpressive performance to his viewers.
He scored decent points for his team in the German Grand Prix and finished his race at the eighth place after struggling on the new Pirelli tyres.
In the 11th round of the ongoing season, he retired from the Hungarian Grand Prix due to having a gearbox issue in his MGP-W02 car.
