  1. i pick spinks by decision, or possibly maybe a late round stoppage.

spinks fought the better class of opposition at light heavy, and is considered one of the top 175 pounders ever.

  2. Sometimes the best in a class is still prone to defeat.  It's very possible in this case.  Spinks is certainly one of the best light heavyweights ever and he has above average power.  However, I don't think he punches as hard as Moorer.

Moorer's chin let him down some times at heavyweight.  He was also not as motivated with the big boys.  Still he fared better than Spinks did.  The other thing to consider is the fact that Moorer was still growing at 175.  He rarely entered the ring under 190 once the weigh-in took place.  Spinks never HAD to leave 175.  He just ran out of competition and who could blame him for taking a chance against an aging, unmotivated Larry Holmes whom he HAD to know would take him lightly?  The opportunity, win, lose or draw was well worth it.

No one during Spinks' reign at 175 had the power to threaten him.  Qwai had power but he was tough enough to take Spinks' right, not necessarily tough enough to return the favor.  He also fought like he was frozen or even a bit scared.

No one else came close to threatening Spinks.  By the time Spinks won his portion of the title from Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, his toughest competitor, Saad Muhammad, had already been through too many wars and lost to Qwai.

Moorer, though he didn't accomplish much at 175, presents a much different challenge.  He was a destroyer at 175.  This fight would depend on when it took place.  If Spinks got to him when he was already struggling to make 175 he might have a chance to stop him.

It's hard to imagine an undefeated fighter ever losing.  Spinks was undefeated at 175 so many don't see Moorer beating him.   I do.  Moorer was just too powerful and Spinks, though he has good defense, would not be able to stop Moorer from doing what he does best.

    Moorer by KO in 7

  3. Both undefeated at light heavyweight and I agree Spinks fought the better fighters at that weight.  Moorer won all his fights at light heavy by KO or TKO  but I have Spinks taking a close decision if they ever fought.  Spinks was one of the best light heavyweights I ever saw fight
