Michael Thurk insists he will stay at FC Augsburg and fight for his place- Bundesliga news
Striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Thurk has stated that he will stay at the club and fight for his place despite being released by FC Augsburg. He claimed that he does want to change his club and will work hard to remain in contention for the team.
The former Eintracht Frankfurt forward also expressed his disappointment on being left out by the team before the start of the side’s first ever season in the Bundesliga. The player had been an important part of the side that finished
second in the 2.Bundesliga last year and gained promotion.
Thurk admitted that he will not be looking for a new club and insisted that he wants to stay at Augsburg to be part of the squad. He admitted that he would accept the club’s decision but still wants to stay at the club and wait
for the opportunities to come in the upcoming campaign.
“A change of team is not an option for me at this stage. I will accept the club’s decision as they hold my contract. But I will stay here in Augsburg and wait for my chance,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Earlier this week, Augsburg General Manager Andreas Rettig and club manager Jos Luhukay had revealed that the club will be releasing the player purely on sporting grounds as they want a tactical change in the next campaign.
Thurk is disappointed with the club’s decision and admitted that he has failed to understand the reason behind it. He insisted that he has always been of immense contribution to the team and did not like how the club has treated
him in the end.
“Naturally I am hugely disappointed over this decision, because I cannot comprehend it and neither do others. I have absolutely done nothing wrong but I am not totally shocked - I have seen before how the coach has dealt with
me,” he concluded.
Michael Thurk has made a total of 104 league appearances for FC Augsburg and has been successful in scoring 51 goals in the process.
