Michael Vaughan backs Andrew Strauss to come good against West Indies– Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964. Vaughan backed Strauss to come good and end his run drought against the West Indies, who are scheduled
to tour England in May, 2012.
Vaughan held that Strauss is still fine as far as his technique is concerned and has been unlucky not to score runs. The former skipper believes that it is only a matter of time before Strauss gets back to his raring best.
Backing the English skipper to regain his lost form, Vaughan said, “His feet are going okay; he's just not getting the big scores. He's getting a lot of starts, and he'll want to put that right. I think he's got many more innings
left in him for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013. I do know, however, that the West Indies series is going to be a big one for him individually.”
“The one good thing he has is that the first game (against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760) is at Lord's - he has a very good record there and has many hundreds there already. He will feel comfortable arriving there for that first Test,” he continued.
Vaughan feels that Strauss will have to strive hard during the earlier phase of his innings. The former cricketer has advised the left-hander not to let his concentration dip after getting in the 30s, as he has been losing his
wicket after doing all the hard work.
West Indies tour of England comprises of three Test matches, the first of which will be played at Lord's, London from Thursday, May 17. Lord’s has been a good hunting ground for the stylish left-hander, who has gashed 1418 runs
at an average of 54.53 from 16 Test matches. Out of the 19 Test centuries that Strauss has scored four have come from the Lord’s pitch.
Strauss has not been amongst the runs in this past year or so. In the last twelve months, the 35-year-old has only scored 520 runs from 12 Tests while his average of 26 was also well below his career average of 41.01. The series
against West Indies will be a great chance for him to break the shackles.
