http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Paul-Vaughan-c76145 urges England to play consistently on turning tracks – Cricket News Update
Former England captain, Michael Vaughan, has urged http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026 and his men to play consistently on the slow and turning tracks away from home if they want to become the world’s best One-Day cricket side.
England, after humiliating http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in all the three formats of game at home this summer, faltered badly in the subcontinent as the tourists lost the five-match One Day International series 0-5. The visitors had entered into the series as the World’s number
three One-Day side but slipped to number 5 spot on the rankings table after the humiliating series whitewash.
Vaughan agreed that is always hard to play away from home; however, he said that England prove relatively more miserable in the One-Dayers during foreign tours.
"It is always harder to play away from home but England have to lose their short-sighted vision of playing on green wickets in this country," the former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 skipper wrote in his column for a leading daily.
"...I am sorry, if you want to be the best team in one-day cricket then you have to play on slow, turning pitches consistently," Vanghan added further.
The 36-year-old former England batsman was not impressed by the figures England have managed at the home grounds and has said that the overall results of the 2011-12 season tell a certain story.
"Look at results this year. Away from home we have lost 6-1 to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and India in the summer was 6-2, but the scores only tell
a certain story," the 2005 Ashes winning skipper further wrote in his column.
Supporting his opinion, Vaughan mentioned England’s successive games against Sri Lanka at Oval and Headingly last summer. He said that England comfortably outclassed Lankans at Oval where they were provided with a green pitch, but on the relatively flat
and a bit turning Headingly wicket the hosts failed to impress with the bat.
Despite criticising England’s performance in the subcontinent heavily, Vaughan agreed that the current English side is one of the all time bests.
