Michael Vick to get next start for the Philadelphia Eagles
The starting quarterback job in Philadelphia has been going back and forth between Michael Vick and Kevin Kolb all season. After a disappointing 37-19 loss to the Tennessee Titans, which saw Kolb throw two interceptions, Michael Vick will once again get
the start under center.
Eagles coach Andy Reid summed up his decision in two words when he was asked about who would get the start in the Eagles next game.
"It's Mike."
Although Reid made it clear that he plans to go with Vick in the team's next game, he hasn't given up on Kolb yet.
"He had some good plays, phenomenal plays...We've got to continue to work with the pressure and make sure that we protect him. We've got to make sure we give him the right plays."
Michael Vick also addressed the situation when he told Albert Breer from the NFL network, "It’s a huge responsibility, anytime you’re a starting quarterback in the NFL. The thing is, you have to make sure you’re being held accountable and doing all the things
it takes to win football game. You know, it’s a tough league and every week it’s gonna be a challenge.
"It’s helped both of us because we can compete and be friends at the same time, and it’s not like you’re competing against a guy you don’t have a relationship with or can’t talk to, that puts more pressure on the situation," Vick added, alluding to the competition
between he and Kolb. "Naturally, we developed a friendship – we like fishing, we like a lot of the same things, we roomed together in camp and we had a great offseason together. We’re just rooting for one another."
The Eagles now head into their bye week, giving Vick an extra week to recover from his rib injury, which was what initially forced Kolb back into the lineup. They host the Indianapolis Colts on November 7.
