Michael Vick will be the Eagles’ starting QB against the Lions
It seems like an eternity since the last time Michael Vick was the starting quarterback in the NFL. Actually it has been 45 months to be precise since Vick was last named the starter. But that streak will
come to an end in week two of the 2010 regular season as the three-time Pro Bowler has been named the starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles when they will face the Detriot Lions on Sunday, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The decision came after Kevin Kolb failed to pass the second phase of concussion testing on Wednesday. Vick played well in the Eagles 27-20 loss against the Green Bay Packers last Sunday in the season
opener. He steeped up and lead his team during Kolb’s absence and injected new life in the Eagles’ offence that were dreadful in the first two quarters. Vick showed no signs of rust as he scrambled out of the pocket, made plays on the run and finished with
175 passing yards and rushed for 103, reminiscent of his days with the Atlanta Falcons.
"I thought Michael was phenomenal," coach Andy Reid said after the game. "He brought the team back, he kept his poise."
Vick saw limited action last season and was thrid on the depth chart after playing behind Donovan McNabb and Kolb. Vick threw just 13 passes and rushed 24 times and scored three touchdowns. Most of his
plays were out of the Wildcat formation in which a player can either run the ball,  throw it or simply hand it off pending on how the defence is playing. Meanwhile Kolb had a subpar showing before his concussion.

"My primary focus is to put this team in position to win," Vick said. "That's the ultimate goal. You can't go out and try to prove yourself because that adds more pressure to this game."
Once Kolb will be cleared to play, Reid said that Vick will be a backup once again. But if Vick playes extremely well against the Lions, it will be hard to place the quarterback who gives you a better
chance of winning on the bench.
